Stand Up Paddle Boarding is one of the fastest growing water sports in New Zealand.
This sport has it's origins in Hawaii as an off shoot of surfing. The boards are larger than your traditional surf board at 2.7 metres (9 feet) or longer.
They're made from a variety of materials including foam core GRP, polyethelene and other composite materials. Choosing depends on use, budget and on your preference.
As with all paddlecraft in New Zealand, it is compulsory to wear a PFD while paddling a SUP.
