20th - 25th October (Labour weekend)

We are again joining the Waikato Yakity Yak Club, and if like last year from other clubs as well, for a paddle around parts of the Coromandel. The thought of heading north to white sandy beaches and a warmer climate certainly sounds inviting.
It will be 4 days of kayaking with a day of travel either side. We will be taking the van with kayak trailer and a second vehicle if needed, there is already alot of interest in this trip and numbers will be limited.

We will drive through to Athenree (north end of Tauranga harbour) on Thursday 20th Oct and spend the night at the Athenree Campground.
Friday morning we will drive to Hahei and go for a short paddle in the afternoon. We will base ourselves at the Hahei Campground the nights of Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We will be paddling areas around Hahie and Whitianga. We will visit sea caves, Cathedral Cove and more, in some of NZ's best scenic paddling locations.

On Monday, after a morning paddle, we will travel to Rotorua (change of scenery for the return trip) and spend the night at the Rotorua Top Ten Holiday Park.

Tuesday we will make our way back to Wellington.

All of the nights we are away we will be in tent sites. If you want to upgrade to a cabin or chalet this will be up to you to organise. Click on the above links for info on each place.

Costs for the trip will be $325.00. This includes transport for you and your kayak, fuel and camp fees.

We are aware that the Rugby World Cup final is on the Sunday night and we are going to organise a projector and screen to watch it (for those that are interested of course).

Please call or email the shop to put your name down for this trip. A deposit of $100.00 is needed to confirm your place. If you need to hire a kayak please let us know.
