CoursesSea kayaking skills course
Giving you skills in being confident on the water. The course is two days and covers wet exits, rescue techniques, paddle strokes, on the water safety, trip planning, and equipment. All kayaking gear, lunches and trained kayak instructors are supplied. Please call the shop if you need more info or wish to book on this or another course. Cost $395 or $745 for a joint family of two. The course fee also gives you one years membership to the Yakity Yak club The Yakity Yak Club has heaps of amazing benefits for members.- 12 month subscription to the 'New Zealand Kayaking Magazine'. - 6 weekly club meetings to plan out trips and any ideas you have. - Get to know fellow kayakers through the club. - Great in store discounts. - Access to club trips throughout the other Canoe & Kayak stores. - Half price kayak and accessory hire. - Discounts of further courses. - Free training to become a trip leader. - Free consultation and advice.
Courses during the winter months are run on a demand basis, so please contact us for dates for the next one.
Rolling Course
Rolling courses begin at the start of each month and are run over four Wednesday nights, 7pm Tawa pool. This is great way to give you more confidence in the water. All gear is supplied. $160 for club members or $200 for non club members.
