Meet The Team

DAVE DUNCAN: OWNER / OPERATOR
Born in the UK near the Tyne River, Dave started his kayaking career young with fond memories of Boxing Day kayak trips where the aim was to break the ice first... now the appeal of the NZ summer has him hooked on kayaking.  Dave completed a Bach. Outdoor Leadership (Hons) in the Lake District before travelling the world rock climbing, skiing and kayaking while working as an Outdoor Instructor.  With over 7 years of instructing under his belt, Dave has a wealth of experience and knowledge that will help any budding outdoor enthusiast in the store or on the water.  

LAURA CLAYTON: OWNER / OPERATOR
Born and raised in Southern Hawkes Bay, Laura has always loved the outdoors and everything that NZ has to offer.  After studying Outdoor Recreation and Adventure Education at CPIT in Christchurch, Laura left NZ and returned 7 years later with a passport full of stamps and many adventures under her belt.  Inbetween periods of work abroad Laura paddled in Uganda and Nepal, climbed in Morroco and Croatia and skied in South America, Europe and Canada. Laura is relishing being home now and is very excited about the opportunity of running C&K Taupo and can't wait to see it develop the business into its full potential.  

HARRY GREER: TOURIST TRIPS GUIDE
Harry hales from Dunedin and has come to us after a season of white water paddling and instructing in America.  He is an experienced boater, NZOIA qualified, Swift Water Recue Technician and permenant fixture at Reids Farm.  Harry is the friendly face that will take you on the Waikato Float trips and Maori Carvings tour on Lake Taupo. 

MIKE BURDEN: MULTISPORT INSTRUCTOR
Mike has been working as a raft guide in NZ, Australia, Nepal and Africa since the 80’s…learning to kayak on class 5 rapids on the White Nile (hence the name Maddog) and has gone on to be a senior NZKI White Water assessor, Senior River Guide (Rafting) and Swiftwater Rescue Technician and Instructor. Mikes experience has been invaluable and he continues to be an integral part of the C&K Taupo Team especially for our Multisport training in winter.
