International Kayak Week (IKW) follows on from the Coastbusters event. Sunday Evening 28 February - Thursday 4 March 2010
What is IKW about?
- Organized by a group of volunteer kayakers
- Non-profit
- The goal is:
- To build on the fun and new friendships of the Coastbusters weekend - in a smaller group, more relaxed environment on the wonderful island-dotted coast of the Hauraki Gulf.
What does your IKW registration fee get you?
- Price is $275 if you tent or $335 if you share a cabin.

- The opportunity to meet and paddle with some very experienced local and visiting kayakers
- Kayaking opportunities that could include:
- Sunday afternoon paddle from Sullivans Bay to Martin’s Bay
- Kawau Island & inner Islands
- Leigh to Goat Island (Cape Rodney Marine Reserve) – paddle the outside coast & swim with the fish
- Surfing at Tawharanui
- Flexible depending on and making use of what the weather throws at us
- Some people may choose to do more extensive paddles and others may take a more cruisey approach
- Discussions / talks over dinner about a variety of topics
Who can attend?
- Novice to advanced sea kayakers, capable of at least a 90 minute paddle.
